"QUEEN OF THE PUMPKIN PATCH"
RULES:
*All entries must be pre-registered, no walk-in’s will be accepted.*
See pages 3 & 4 for the schedule for entry form deadlines and delivery of items, as well as Fairground directions.
Exhibit of pumpkins of 100 pounds and over. Prize money of $1 for every pound over 300 lbs. will be awarded to the three largest entries by weight.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th heaviest pumpkins will receive $100 each. The 7th through 10th heaviest pumpkins will receive $50 each.
Ribbons will be awarded to the top 15 entries, but all entries will receive a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment.
Pumpkins of all colors are eligible for prize money, and ties will be broken based on appearance. If, however, the entry is deemed to be 100% gray/green in color, the entry will be titled as a squash, but will still be eligible for prize money and a ribbon as stated above, since the placing is based on weight.
Entry must be grown by the exhibitor, and only one official entry per household is allowed. If a grower brings two pumpkins or one pumpkin and one squash, he or she must select which one is for competition (meaning eligible for prize money) and which one is for exhibition (basically display) only, before either are officially judged or weighed.
All entries must be healthy and must be free of rot, holes/cracks that go through to the cavity, chemical or fungicide residue and serious soft spots.
No previously weighed fruit may be considered as competition.
In order to receive prize money your entry must remain intact and on display for the duration of the fair (9 am Friday to 7 pm Sunday).
All entries will be judged before being weighed in, and the judge’s decision is final.
"LONG GOURDS"
Competition is strickly for length.
Measurements will be from the base of the stem where it joins the specimen to the most distant point in a straight line.
Only vertical length is part of the official measurement; curvatures will not count as added length.
