 David Bowen Wins Best Wooden Article
When David Bowen of North Branford retired nine years ago, he turned his garage into a woodshop and got to work for fun. He has made several bookcases over the years, this special piece (pictured) is a gift for his nephews. Although his family moved from Durham several years ago he decided to enter his work in the Fair's Craft Department this year. He didn’t plan on topping his brother’s past Durham Fair blue ribbon with his first time entry - but he did. And now, after winning the Best of Show - Wooden Article - a friendly family competition is on for 2009. David commented that his entry was fast and easy and the people in the Craft Department couldn't have been nicer to work with.
