Mark Twain? At the Durham Fair...
Do you know this man? He is probably America’s most beloved and well-known author and for many years a resident of Connecticut. He wrote Tom Sawyer, Life on the Mississippi, Huckleberry Finn and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court to name but a few. Still don’t know? Does the name Samuel Clemens ring a bell? No, well how about Mark Twain? Everyone over the age of ten should know that name.
The Discovery Center extends an invitation to all fairgoers to meet Mark Twain* at the Main Gate to the fair at 11:30am, Saturday, September 27th and stroll with him down to our new Potbelly Place in the Farm Museum. At 1:30pm, gather ‘round the potbelly stove and listen to Mark as he talks with you about his life in Connecticut and on the Mississippi River.
And while you are at it, watch for those two incorrigible boys, Tom and Huck, as they tag-a-long behind Mark and then head over to the children’s area with them at 2:00pm to paint Aunt Polly’s fence or will they???? I think Huck would rather be fishing!
